For people to have a positive impact on the environment, it is going to take an active effort by all of us in many areas of our lives. Guess what? That includes our dating lives! Sure, planning out a green date involves helping the environment, but it is more about having a one-of-a-kind fun experience. Breaking the “dinner and a movie” mold in this way adds a sense of adventure while replenishing Mother Earth. Here are three ideas to get you started

Visit An Orchard

Picking apples or berries in season puts you in direct contact with nature, gives you something to snack on, and supports sustainable farming. You can make a night out of it by cooking with the day’s bounty.

Fun With Public Transportation

Many cities have legs of their public transport systems that are unique and interesting, such as light rails, trams, or ferries. These are often fun excursions in themselves, but if there aren’t any in your city, find out if your transport system has a leg that goes to a beach you rarely visit or a quirky neighborhood you can walk in. Not only will you see a new part of your area, but you will cut down the use of your car.

Shop At The Farmer’s Market

Let’s face it, one of the most time-tested date ideas is cooking together. Next time, find the local farmer’s market instead of shopping at the supermarket. Usually it will save money and will yield fresher ingredients while supporting local farms.

Putting together green dates can either mean making a slight change in your normal routine, or being adventurous and having a new experience altogether. Depending on what you’re looking for, you can easily find your own way to chip in and share that with your partner. More times than not, it leads to a more enjoyable time together.

I like these “natural” suggestions. Is a winery natural? That would be good because you are being environmental but also imbibing some liquid lubrication to ease the tension 😉

Online dating is now a socially acceptable form of meeting that someone special. It wasn’t that long ago though that Internet dating was stigmatized much the same way telephone dating and professional matchmaking services were looked down upon prior to that.
